A Job That Calls For Sysadmins With a Microphone, a Ladder, an AM Radio & a Multimeter: Moving a UC Campus' Mass-Notification System

In the past 10 months, UCLA migrated its Mass Notification System from being hosted by campus departments to UCLA IT Services. It was a very technically diverse IT project, involving SMS text and email messaging providers, an on-campus loud speaker system (also known as a Giant Voice system), and a small low-power A.M. radio station. We'd like to share with our peers the migration process, the coordination in switching over from engineering to operations for the project, as well as the lessons we learned migrating a Tier-0 Campus Public Safety System.
